Window Of Tolerance
Knowing the Difference Between your Parasympathetic and Sympathetic Nervous System:
The parasympathetic nervous system is a part of the autonomic nervous system responsible for conserving energy and promoting "rest and digest" functions. It helps to slow the heart rate, increase intestinal and gland activity, and relax sphincter muscles.
The sympathetic nervous system is another part of the autonomic nervous system responsible for the "fight or flight" response. It prepares the body for stressful or emergency situations by increasing the heart rate, redirecting blood flow to muscles, and releasing adrenaline.
